Bury College apprentice Mike Nelson has been praised for his fantastic progress during his AAT accounting apprenticeship with the cosmetics leader L’Oréal, who are looking to continue to support him to the next level.
Having had a keen interest in accounting for a long time, Mike, a former pupil of Bridgewater High School in Warrington, aspired to join the industry, so when he spotted the opportunity to begin a Level 2 AAT apprenticeship at Bury College he successfully applied.
With support from the college, Mike, aged 21, has progressed and gone from strength to strength. The team at L’Oréal are impressed with the way Mike has taken to the role, and his manager, Credit Manager Sarah Chapman said:
“It has been an absolute pleasure having Mike on the team. The modern apprentice scheme works really well for us here at L’Oréal. We support Mike in his studies by giving him practical, relevant experience. In addition we work alongside his college tutor to give feedback and personal development, equipping him for a future career in a similar role. In return Mike gives us a fresh insight, is passionate and dedicated to supporting the team and most importantly is a real team player with a good sense of humour!”.
This is high praise and a fantastic achievement for Mike, who is due to complete his apprenticeship in September. L’Oréal has recognised his excellent progression and potential, and he will start a Level 3 apprenticeship with the company on completion.
Mike said “I have enjoyed the role very much; it has been varied and challenging and taught me some really valuable experiences. The Bury College tutors have been a great extra layer of support, and I am working with a fantastic team. It’s nice to look back and see how far I’ve come and how much I have achieved. I’m looking forward to starting the Level 3 and progressing in my role”.
