A Bolton business is supporting the new Bury College Customer Service apprenticeship standard as they provide a school leaver with an exciting career opportunity.
Wardworth Ltd, trading under the name Ladderstore, has given Megan Oliver the chance to secure a recognised qualification whilst gaining industry experience. Ladderstore, as the name suggests, supply a wide range of ladders and access equipment to high street retailers, trade customers and the general public.
Working as the first contact for both customers and suppliers, Megan will be working within the customer service team and will be responsible for ensuring the customer journey runs as smoothly as possible.
Megan was awarded the apprenticeship position in October 2017 and will complete the 13 month apprenticeship before progressing onto the Level 3 qualification. Wardworth Ltd are proud of their ongoing commitment to providing individuals with apprenticeship opportunities and strongly believe in the value of apprenticeships, for their company and the apprentice themselves.
Megan is the 10th apprentice to have been employed by Wardworth Ltd and one of them is still with them today, as the Customer Services Manager.
17 year old Megan, who is a former Turton School pupil from Edgeworth, chose the apprenticeship route as she preferred to learn in an industry environment. Megan, who handles customer queries, creates quotes and liaises with suppliers, said, “I would definitely recommend the apprenticeship route to others as it is great to gain the experience of working within an industry setting. I already feel really settled within my role and my confidence has grown a lot.”
The business prides themselves on delivering excellent customer service and believes that completing an apprenticeship can be a springboard for the careers of individuals.
In 2015, Wardworth Ltd won the Retail Award at the Skills for Business Awards and were also recognised in the prestigious Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer list. This is testament to their ongoing dedication to providing individuals with the platform required to progress their careers.
Gail Hounslea, Wardworth Ltd Managing Director, said, “We strongly believe in the benefits of apprenticeships and developing individuals. We have found that apprentices bring fresh ideas to the organisation and it has been great to see individuals grow personally and professionally and progress through the business.”
