Apprentices starting out on their new career can take advantage of two great travel offers from Transport for Greater Manchester.
For those in the first six months of their apprenticeship there is the offer of a free 28-day travel pass valid on bus or Metrolink services across the region. The ticket can be used on all Metrolink trams and most bus services within Greater Manchester; including those run by Stagecoach, First and Arriva.
Alternatively, for those who prefer to commute on two wheels, the ‘Apprentice Bike to Work’ scheme offers a free bike, cycle training and bike maintenance courses. The bikes also come with cycling accessories and safety equipment and can be applied for anytime in the first year of the apprenticeship.
In order to take advantage of the scheme, apprentices should contact their provider who will issue them with an application form. As long as the provider is signed up, apprentices can take advantage of the scheme straight away.
Providers not enrolled in the scheme can sign up by contacting the Travel Choices team at Transport for Greater Manchester via firstname.lastname@example.org.
This pilot scheme has been jointly developed and funded by Transport for Greater Manchester and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority in response to feedback from apprentices and their training providers.
