A Bury Council apprentice has been appointed as a Senior Finance Officer as he completes his AAT Bury College training.
Ambitious Giancarlo Paolucci began his career journey in 2016 on the Bury Council Apprenticeship programme. He was appointed to a position in the Bury Council Finance department and enrolled onto the Level 2 AAT Bury College apprenticeship. The 20 year-old then chose to progress onto the Level 3 AAT apprenticeship before securing his promotion as Senior Finance Officer.
In his new role, the former St Cuthbert’s RC High School pupil will be responsible for budget management, advising schools on accountancy systems, posting journals and ordering re-charges.
Giancarlo, from Littleborough, said, “Throughout my time at school and college, I always completed work experience placements. These valuable opportunities showed me that gaining hands-on industry experience was vital for career progression. This is why I chose the apprenticeship route and I can’t recommend apprenticeships highly enough to other people.”
Bury College has a longstanding history of providing apprenticeship opportunities to Bury Council employees. Louise Goldfinch, Bury Council Workforce Strategy Adviser, said of the ongoing partnership, “Bury Council believes strongly in the importance of apprentices. We are investing in the future and ensuring that young people have sector specific skills. Ultimately, we are future proofing our organisation.”
Upon completion of his Level 3 qualification, Giancarlo would like to undertake the Level 4 AAT Higher Apprenticeship which will further enhance his knowledge of accountancy and finance operations.
