Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) has awarded Cogent Skills with silver and bronze GM Social Value Awards in recognition of its dedication, time and effort towards supporting STEM careers outreach in the Greater Manchester community, through the SIP Ambassador Programme.
SIP Ambassadors are a network of industry professionals who engage, inspire and enthuse young people into careers and apprenticeships within the science based industries. The Ambassadors engage with young people, parents, teachers and careers advisers to promote STEM-based careers through visits to schools and colleges, attendance at careers fairs and by supporting industry visits. They enthuse young people with their own knowledge and provide a unique insight into the world of work.
The awards have been set up to recognise the time and hard work donated by companies to help inspire the Greater Manchester future workforce, and the opportunities created to educate young people about the range of careers exciting careers open to them.
Rachel Brickell, who leads on the SIP Careers Initiative said: “The work the SIP Ambassadors undertake in the community is aimed at inspiring young people about STEM careers, and supporting the decisions taken they make at key points in their education and their lives.
“We are delighted to receive these prestigious awards and would like to thank GMCC and also wholeheartedly thank all the SIP Ambassadors in Greater Manchester who have contributed towards this achievement with their time, effort and fantastic enthusiasm.”
The Greater Manchester SIP Careers outreach has received funding support from New Economy Manchester.
